Àrọ̀nì is a travelling presence rather than a traditional DJ. He does not narrate the journey — he moves through it.
Working primarily within Afrohouse and adjacent African electronic forms, his approach is defined by long blends, restraint, and an attention to rhythm as language. Sets are shaped as passages rather than performances, built to unfold slowly and deliberately rather than chase a moment.
His work is rooted in African mythology, memory, and movement.
The name itself carries weight. Drawn from Yoruba cosmology, Àrọ̀nì speaks to a figure who exists between worlds — a presence within the forest, not always seen but deeply felt. A guide, but not in the obvious sense. One who reveals direction through experience rather than instruction.
Àrọ̀nì makes his first live appearance at the First Signal, The Gidi Vibes’ second anniversary show, 3 July 2026, at Polar Bear Music Club, Hull. He also hosts Paths & Frequencies, a monthly show on Venn Radio Hull.

Biography

Working primarily within Afrohouse and adjacent African electronic forms, his approach is defined by long blends, restraint, and an attention to rhythm as language. Sets are shaped as passages rather than performances, built to unfold slowly and deliberately rather than chase a moment.
His work is rooted in African mythology, memory, and movement. Silence, pacing, and repetition carry as much weight as selection. Each appearance is part of a longer arc, revealed over time rather than delivered in one sitting.
He is not simply stepping in as a DJ in the traditional sense. He operates as both guide and traveller — someone discovering the path in real time while also holding the thread that keeps the listener from getting lost. There's a duality to the role: half exploration, half stewardship.

That idea translates directly into the music. As a DJ, Àrọ̀nì is less concerned with peaks and crowd reactions than with movement itself — how a rhythm settles, how it evolves, how it returns. His sets aren't built to impress in moments. They're built to be moved through.
